For a complete and
welcome contrast, around the corner at the Paton Gallery, Rhonda Whitehead fills
the gallery with natural light rather than natural darkness.
A dazzling series of
paintings in which yellow seems the dominant colour takes us outdoors into the
fields where the light is so bright that the artist appears to be squinting.
Specific shapes have blurred. Ploughed furrows divide the fields into bands of
pure colour. These delightful landscapes are left shimmering in the divide
between abstraction and figuration.
